By default, the application displays the current winds a few feet above the Earth's surface.
The color shadings represent the wind speed (low winds over blue areas, strong winds over green and red areas).
To rotate the globe, click and drag the surface in any direction.
To zoom in or out, use your mouse wheel or (for touchpads and touch-screen devices) pinch with two fingers.
Zooming in/out can also be done using the and buttons in the upper right.
To see a legend explaining the fields displayed on the screen, click on in the menu bar.
To sample the conditions at a specific location, simply click on that location while the cursor shows a target symbol ().
If the cursor shows a location symbol () instead, then click on in the menu bar to change the cursor back to the target symbol.
To select a different variable (temperature, precipitation, etc.) or altitude, click on in the menu bar and choose from the pop-up menu.
Click on a second time to hide the variables menu.
To select a different date or time, click on in the menu bar to display the calendar menu.
Click on a second time to hide the calendar menu.
To change the map projection, click on in the menu bar and select one of the four projections available.
Click on a second time to hide the projection menu.
To add a location marker () somewhere on the map, click on in the menu bar.
To delete a marker, click on it a second time. You can add multiple markers.
To center the view on your current location, click on in the menu bar.
To access other options, click on in the menu bar. There, you can toggle state and province boundaries, mountain ranges, the sea ice edge, or the model grid.
This application is currently optimized for Chrome.
Some features may not work in other browsers.
